In recent times, there have been increasing incidents of victims falling prey to various scams, from simple email scams to sophisticated impersonation scams. It was reported in a Straits Times article that since January 2022, at least 46 victims have lost a minimum of $12.3 million after the re-emergence of Chinese official impersonation scams.
